National CyberSecurity Awareness Month - 2019

Updated: Jan 6, 2021

Welcome to the first full week of NCSAM! Cylidify will be creating new blogs or highlighting previous, but we wanted to kick it off with an introductory post. On top of awareness, general cybersecurity “hygiene” is important for both business and personal:

  • Review your accounts and passwords to make sure they are up to date and have the right level of complexity. We advocate a password manager that can provide a “vault” and help avoid sharing of passwords between accounts. Keep your business and personal accounts separate even having classes of accounts as needed (social, administrative, healthcare, financial, etc.). Update passwords (less frequently with MFA) and make sure not to reuse whole or derivative passwords between accounts.

  • Take the next step in reducing reliance on passwords and required complexity by attaching traditional multi-factor authentication (MFA) to your accounts (SMS/txt, phone call, authenticators, etc.) and/or making use of physical security keys.

  • Get training! Phishing and social engineering techniques continue to advance utilizing websites, email, phone, or even in-person. You must stay up to date and be vigilant about protecting your “identity”.

Cylidify can help with any of your cybersecurity needs from the tactical to the strategic!
